DISTINGUISHED WOMAN OF YEAR

The Salt Lake City branch of AAUW is pleased to announce Mary Ravarino as our 2010 Distinguished Woman honoree. Mary is a well rounded individual who has devoted her life to teaching, community activism and cultural awareness; making her more than deserving of this honor and award.

Mary holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Utah, as well as, taking advanced classes at the University of Utah and Utah State University. Mary spent most of her career in the educational arena where she taught in both the Salt Lake City and Murray school districts. She also received the prestigious recognition of "Who's Who of American Teachers". Mary's influence on others reaches beyond the classroom; she is an active member of the educational committee for the Utah Opera and sits on Westminster Colleges Woman's Board and chapter P.E.O.

Mary has continued to be dedicated to the issues of women's equity and advancement through her involvement with the Utah Girl Scouts Council, the American Society of the Italian Legion of merit and her involvement with the Utah Women's State Legislative Council. Mary is also very active in her community and her religious community through her volunteer activities.
