Salt Lake City Branch Report
January 23, 2010

In November we meet at the Sprague Library and had a discussion on "Women Protecting Wilderness" given by Terri Martin from the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance. We also had Dixie S. Huefner from the Utahan's for Ethical Government come to educate and update us on the proposition for ethical government and she also handed out petitions.

In December we had our Red Candle Tea at Westminster College. We had two guest speakers; Joi Logan, a current Westminster College student, spoke to us about her experience at the National Leadership Conference. Our second speaker was Catlin Jarvis, a student at the University of Utah; who spoke about her involvement with AAUW's Student Advisory Council (SAC). We also collected children's book to give as a donation to Lovejoy's Libros!

In January we had a wonderful joint meeting with the Wasatch Branch to discuss legislative issues being faced in the state of Utah. We had a panel of four which included: Senator Wayne Niederman and three representatives, Carol Speckman, Brian King & Becky Edwards. The meeting was held at the Girl Scouts of Utah building.

Our upcoming branch meetings/events will include: a meeting on February 13th to have a discussion of women in the arts and on March 6th we will have our annual distinguished woman luncheon to be held at the Cottonwood Country Club. As of January 16, 2010 our membership count is: 56

Thank you,

Amanda Belloff
