The Kaysville -Davis Branch has been very busy. For our service project in November we collected 50 quilts and blankets for the Road Home (homeless shelter). Also included in the donation were baby items and adult clothing. We received good publicity on this project. Our annual Christmas party and auction were very successful. Twenty percent of the funds collected went to EF. The remainder goes to fund our Senior High School Art Show in April and other branch expenses. The event featured a potluck dinner . . . members donated items for auction. . . and this year we also featured a white elephant table where members could pay what they wanted for another member's cast-offs. It was a very fun evening. At our January meeting, we met the new director of the Davis Learning Center in Clearfield. This group works withe impoverished members of the community, mostly Hispanics and other minorities. They offer ESL classes, a pre-school, food pantry, job help, and parenting help. In February a woman pharmacist will discuss the "Wise Use of Medicine". This will be an open meeting for the community at the Kaysville Library, and is jointly sponsored by AAUW and AARP. Three of our meetings this year has been open meetings since they concern problems facing a lot of our citizens and help us as an organization to be more visible. Our two new members have greatly helped our group. Hopefully, we'll pick up another now that dues are less for the remainder of the year.
