Sego Lily, all the AAUW News That's Fit to Print Online

Welcome to the online-only Sego Lily. We are experimenting with this labor and cost saving way of getting news out to our members around Utah.

Our most recent board meeting was on January 23, 2010, and the icy weather kept many people home. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. For the first time we used a speaker phone so that St. George could have representation without undue travel.

We are sorry that the Tooele branch has slipped away. Dawn DeWitt has been truly valiant in trying to keep it going, but the four friends have been unable to find any time in common with all their travel.

Anita Gander reported on the state of the UWAE Trust, and our Board we voted to have another Utah Womens Art Exhibit in 2011. We will try to duplicate the event by having the same committee head and venue. Tracey Matthews is looking for help, so read her article and think about getting involved in this important event for Utah women artists.

This is the time of year when we look for state officers for next year. If you are interested in serving AAUW please let me know, it is fun and it makes you feel good.

Hilarie Orman
AAUW Utah President

The News:

  • April 10, SLC's EF fundraiser
  • April 16-17, State Convention, St. George; registration is open now! The convention committee wants you to know that:

You are invited to bring your spouses with you if you wish. Your spouses are invited to attend the Friday Cocktail Party with you, of course. The more the merrier! This event is the one fund raiser our branch is allowed during the convention. It should be fun! The committee, all good cooks of course, are preparing all of the appetizers. Two of their husbands will tend bar.

The hotel can arrange for golf packages if your spouse is a golfer. A petroglyph hike is also being planned for interested family guests (while you are attending meetings) on Saturday morning.

The theme of the convention is the Shriver Report. Alicia Hetman, AAUW Director-at-Large will be a speaker.
