Carol E. Merrill is the Director of the Women's Center at Weber State University and for the past 14 years has worked daily at advocating, counseling, and empowering women towards successes in their lives, She has been the recipient of the Weber State University "Woman of the Year" Award, Nominated and Selected as the "Outstanding Single Parent Family" from the city of Layton, and recognized as "Davis County's Woman of Achievement Award" for Outstanding Community Service and the 1010 Athena Leadership Recipient from the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce Women in Business.
She has served on the Board of Directors for the Ogden Chapter of the American Association of University Women, Harmon Scholarship Foundation, Your Community Connection, Davis County Arts and Humanities Council and has been involved in countless community agencies.
The story of the transformation of Carol's personal life, from uneducated, unemployed and Overwhelmed to owning her own business and directing a women's center, helps to inspire women to move beyond the barriers and work towards achieving their dreams of a higher education.
Carol became a single mother, after the death of her husband, when her children were 7,5,4 and 1. She developed a plan, which included pursuing her bachelor's and master's degree, and has since dedicated her life to helping women overcome barriers and rise above their circumstances.
In addition, to her work at Weber State University, Carol is the owner of Merrill Academy of Fine Arts and Merrill Fine Arts Studio in Layton, Utah. Her passion for life is reflected in her paintings, service to her community and her outreach in helping women to discover the strength and wisdom that lies within them.
