Advanced Equity for Women and Girls through research.

Advanced Equity for Women and Girls through education.

  • In Dec we had our annual Xmas get together and even though it was a very snowing day we had 12 present at the holiday meeting and one of our member lead the group with Xmas songs and season cheer.

  • In January a newly elected councilwoman  Susan Van Hooser spoke to the group about issues affecting women in politics and shared her goals to help people who voted her into office.

  • Carol Merrill, WSU university liaison was honored by the Ogden- Weber Chamber of Commerce Women in Business as the 2010 Athena award recipient. 

  • We are happy to say that Carol will be taking four new students, again this year to the AAUW/NASPA Conference for College Women Student Leaders and she would also be a presenter at one of the workshop.

  • On February 20th, celebrated Black History Month and our speaker is Marian Howe-Taylor from Salt Lake Community College a native of Boston and now live in Layton with her husband addressed the National Black History theme Black Economic Empowerment to our group & guests who attended. 

  • March meeting was a celebration of Women's Month and Dr Seshachari spoke to the group in honor of his late wife Neila who was a long time member of AAUW about her idea of starting a RAMP grant in Weber County. He talked about the progress/benefit of the grant to the community.

  • The branch has established a working committee to explore and plan a mentoring program to help students at Weber State and local high school students.

  • The above mentioned activities brought dynamic speakers and guests to the branch and gave branch an added exposure to the community this year.
